How would you vote on the HHU project? Please be very specific about which options you favor.
There are three options the administration is offering for the HHU project.
I believe that we need to stagger the three school options across several decades so that we don't get caught spending all our money at the dawn of a massive change in educational protocols.
All three options appear to be writing a blank check to an administration that has often thwarted transparency in their dealings. The administrators get the enviable job of spending between $100-$150 million of Wellesley Taxpayer money with no line item details and without having given the community a voice in the process. Residents might be around for the 50 years those new buildings last but the administrators won't be. The community must be allowed to give their voice to the possible amenities:
- Provide space for multi-stream recycling? and uses grey water for toilets without a health risk?
- Indoor courtyard for science walks?
- Keep the old trees and wrap the new building around the outside of the old one with a hand demolition of the old one when appropriate?
- Integration of technology without making the space feel “cold”?
- Indoor track for all Wellesley residents use and does it have a nice view?
- Meeting spaces for older kids in the evening time by re-using the theater or athletic spaces in the elementary schools?
- Have a multiplayer game room for kids?
- Have windows that open for fresh air?
- Have qualities of a “safe space” against an internal threat?
- Have actual kitchens to improve the quality of food?
- Engage collaboratively with the community and what collaborators need space in the buildings?
- What would you like to see?
